Meet Kira Duimovich.

“I’m 15 years old and I go to Nepean High School when it’s not summer time. I graduated from grade nine and when I’m done high school I’d like to pursue architecture. I’d love to go to Queen’s for university.

“I love this area because there are so many places you can be. It’s such a nice environment. I see stores and families and dogs and people and little kids, and it’s a really friendly neighbourhood. I love summer because I get to hang out with friends, go to the beach, and of course play soccer and practice dance. When I was young, I moved around a lot and I think it affected me. Then I moved and went to Elmdale, and met some really great friends and that made it better. I felt connected and I didn’t want to leave again. Those friends know I am outgoing, open-minded and I’m willing to take risks and try new things.” Collected by Ellen Bond

Humans of Kitchissippi is a special street photography project designed to introduce readers to some of the people who live, work, and play in Kitchissippi. Each instalment of HOK contains three elements: a photo, a name, and a quote from the subject that reveals a little bit about who they are. View our collection of humans right here.
