The Fisher Park/Summit Alternative (FPSC) school library is used every day by hundreds of students. They use the space to read, work, collaborate and share with each other. They sit on the floor or in uncomfortable chairs at tables sorely in need of being replaced.
This summer, the library will get a long overdue paint job and new carpet. A group of FPSA parents are working hard to raise funds for new, more comfortable, functional and brightly coloured furniture, along with some new technology tools, to transform the space into a creative learning and sharing commons.
These parents, along with students and teachers, have planned a coffee house evening, the FPSA Library Reboot, to take place at the school on May 25 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. It will be a fun-filled event with tons of student talent, a silent auction, drinks and snacks, and the opportunity to contribute to the revitalization of this critical student hub. There’s free babysitting at the event too!
There’s a website where you can make pre-bids on the silent auction items, or contribute to the new look of the library – you can buy a portion or all of some of the furniture that is planned for the library revitalization, all at the click of a button! Check it out at: https://fpsasclibraryreboot.mybluemix.net/.
