Special to KT by Alya Bejaoui

Nepean High School is proud to present Under The Big Top, a student-written and produced play. The show will take place May 14 in the Nepean High School auditorium at 7 p.m.

The story opens with a young girl in a hospital in a coma. It is unknown how she came to be there. We witness her loss of innocence through the replaying of events from her childhood and adolescence. In the first act, she is a naive ten-year-old living with her father – the ringmaster of a prominent circus in the 1920s. We continue to watch as she interacts with different members of the circus as they indulge her vision of a safe and happy world. Due to her poor relationship with her neglectful father, the young girl begins to view the other circus performers as her family, but eventually begins to see her mentors as they really are.

Nepean’s Theatre Production class has been working on the show since November. All the sets, costumes, props, and technical aspects of the show have been designed, constructed, and decorated by members of this class. As well, this same group managed all of the tickets, posters, programs and other front-of-house responsibilities.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door.
