A colourful addition to Westboro Beach

 By Andrea Tomkins –

Have you been to Westboro Beach lately? Tara Tosh Kennedy – along with some very helpful volunteers – has been busy transforming the underpass into a colourful mural that represents the four seasons. The project originated with the Westboro Beach Community Association and has engaged many younger members of the wider Kitchissippi community as well.

Tara first started coming to the beach when she was five. “It gives me the chills,” says Tara. “I remember walking under this underpass many times. What if I had known that in 40 years I would be the first person to really decorate this space with a bigger vision!”

Community participation was a key part of this project. This is Catherine Tucker, 11.

Lulu is two years of age. She made her mark on the mural as well.
