Landscape Art Exhibit

Renowned Canadian painter Barbara Gamble brings her latest collection of Canadian landscapes to Cube Gallery with a vernissage May 8. Gamble works in oil paints combined with layers of coloured wax to create luminous surfaces on the canvas. Her landscapes cover the range of Canadian scenery from urban to natural scenes. The vernissage runs May 8 from 6 – 9:30 p.m. and the work will be on display at Cube until May 25.

Hintonburg Fundraiser

The Hintonburg Public House is hosting a fundraiser concert for this summer’s Hintonburg Happening Festival on May 4. The TILDA live fundraiser with live music from Still Water Hills runs from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. with all proceeds  going to support the Hintonburg Happening art and music festival. Cover for the afternoon is a suggested donation of $5. Hintonburg Happening is nine day art, music, food and fashion show taking place in June at Somerset Square.

Classic Fab Four Covers

The Carleton Tavern is hosting a night of live music from the earliest days of The Beatles on May 3. Jonesey and the GreyTones are recreating The Beatles’ 1962 set list from the Star Club in Hamburg Germany before the band made their big break. The set also covers some early Beatles hits and 60’s rock staples. Cover is free and music starts around 9:30 p.m.

Ottawa Art Anniversary

The Ottawa School of Art is holding a celebration for their 135th anniversary at the Great Canadian Theatre Company on May 8. The night includes guest speaker Michael Burgess, the award winning Canadian actor and musician. Ottawa illustrator and fine artists Maya Hum will be on hand creating an interactive art exhibit. Live music courtesy of one of Ottawa’s finest indie music acts, The Acorn. All this with a range of snacks courtesy of Bridgehead and Suzy Q Donuts. The tickets are $45 and the show runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
